Premiere of “The Elephant and the Clown” for Double Clarinet Quartet

On Oct. 13, 2012 at the Vandoren/Buffet Clarinet Ensemble Festival, Paquito D’Rivera’s new work "The Elephant and the Clown" is premiering for double Clarinet Quartet. The performance of the new work will be at 6:00 pm at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Music Building Recital Hall in Greensboro, NC.

The new piece will join several works for Clarinet available from exclusively from Boosey and Hawkes. A PDF listing of works for clarinet is available and also directly from the Boosey and Hawkes website.

Paquito Declared Dilecto Son of Asuncion, Paraguay

Today, September 26, 2012, Paquito D’Rivera was declared "Hijo Dilecto de Asunción" (honesty with love and respectful recognition – son of Asunción). The honor comes from the city of Asunción, the capitol of Paraguay.

Paquito D’Rivera was very moved, and declared himself a ‘lover of Paraguay’, and that he wants to return with his wife, to know the country better. He later commented on Facebook to be very honored by the recognition.

Tonight, along with guitarist Berta Rojas, Paquito performs pieces from Dia y Medio, a CD dedicated to Paraguay, Gran Teatro del Banco Central del Paraguay. The album was just nominated for Best Instrumental Album by the Latin Grammys.

World Premiere Live Performance of “Come With Me” with Jose Limon Dance Company

On June 30 and July 1, Paquito D’Rivera will perform live with Jose Limon Dance Company the world premiere of “Come With Me” inspired by the original work “Ladies in White”. The work was commissioned by Jose Limon Dance Company and choreographed by Rodrigo Pederneiras of Brazil’s Grupo Corpo.

Performances will be held at SummerStage in Central Park both nights at 8:00 pm.
